She spent 2 great years working with the most prominent real estate firm in the area learning about creative financing, marketing & business strategies while catering to several of the medical doctors moving into the area with the University of Louisville. Relocating to Grand Rapids in 1986 brought a pause to her growing business. Leslie took a few years away from the business to get to know the West Michigan area & raise her two children. She started back in the Grand Rapids market in 1993 & has been a well established & a most trusted agent ever since.
Family is most important to Leslie. She & her husband have raised two highly successful daughters, both of whom are now living in the Chicago area. Also included in her family are her two dogs & two cats with which she could not live without. Leslie believes in sharing with anyone in need. For the past eight years the Amaya family has housed baseball players that are making their way up the ranks through the farm teams to the Detroit Tigers. They have also enjoyed giving a home to pregnant teens, tennis players & a resident doctor throughout their 25 years in Grand Rapids.
To balance her life, Leslie enjoys playing tennis & is currently on many travel teams affiliated with the United States Tennis Association. She is an avid sports fan & tries to attend many of the West Michigan Whitecaps baseball games, as well as other sporting events in the area. Team sports have given Leslie more of an insight into her business life by instilling many of the same aspects such as fair play, dedication, & knowledge of the game. Also of interest to Leslie are the wonderful Arts that Grand Rapids is very rich in & she is very active in Charity events throughout the area.
